Conference play has opened up for the Louisville baseball team. They hosted Pittsburgh at Jim Patterson Stadium and won the series 3-0.
Game One: Louisville 3, Pittsburgh 0 Brendan McKay pitched and recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts. Pittsburgh recorded two hits the entire game. The Cards took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and added another in the third, but struggled offensively. Drew Ellis, Colin Lyman, and Devin Mann had two hits each.
Game Two: Louisville 8, Pittsburgh 2 The bats got hot this game. RBI's and runs scored were spread out among the entire lineup. They were highlighted by Colby Fitch's two-run home run in the eighth inning. Kade McClure pitched and got his 15th career win.
Game Three: Louisville 3, Pittsburgh 1 Nick Bennett got the win and the mound and Lincoln Henzman recorded his third save of the season. McKay was the only Cardinal with multiple hits and Josh Stowers drove in two runs. The Panthers threatened in the ninth inning when they scored and had other runners on, but Henzman closed the gam out for the sweep.
Louisville improves to 15-0 on the season- their second best start ever and the only undefeated team remaining. They start conference play off 3-0.
