Louisville used a 10-run second inning and a five-run fourth inning to roll by Morehead State, 16-3. The win marks eight straight victories for Louisville (9-3).
Louisville tied its season high with 16 runs and posted a season-best 20 hits on the day.
The second inning featured 15 batters, nearly allowing the Cards to bat through the lineup twice. Levi Usher and Henry Davis started the rally with back-to-back home runs and Louisville kept their foot on the gas to take the 10-0 lead.
Louisville batted the lineup in the fourth inning and produced a five-piece, all with two outs. The inning was highlighted by Ben Metzinger's home run.
Cameron Masterman sent a 1-1 pitch over the right field wall in the seventh inning for his first of the year as Louisville increased the lead to 16-0.
A three-run home run in the eighth inning with two outs put the Eagles on the board, but they would not score after that.
Six pitchers saw the mound for the Cards with each pitching at least one full inning. Tanner Kuehner (1-1) took the win after throwing three shutout innings to start the game. The bullpen combined for 12 strikeouts while allowing five hits.
The Cards travel to Wake Forest over the weekend for their first ACC series of the year. The Demon Deacons come into the weekend with an 8-5 record.
