Michael Proseckey had his best start of his freshman campaign as he went six innings, two hits, 0 earned runs, only two walks, and four strikeouts. Proseckey was perfect through four innings and the offense gave him an early lead highlighted by a Henry Davis three run home run in the second inning that was followed up by a Justin Lavey home run as Louisville cruised to a 13-2 victory giving Proseckey his first career win.
After a quick first inning, Louisville wasted no time scoring in the second. With two on and no one out, Henry Davis would blast a three run home run to left field. Justin Lavey followed up on the very next pitch giving Louisville and early 4-0 lead.
In the fourth inning Tim Borden II came up with the bases loaded and singled home Davis and Levi Usher. Next up was Luke Brown who would single home Lavey and Borden. Back to back sac fly's from Oriente and Bianco would bring home Andrew Benefield and Brown to cap off a six run inning giving the Cards a 10-0 lead.
The Cards would tack on three more runs in the sixth and seventh inning with sac fly's from Bianco, Benefield and Oriente pushing the lead to 13-0.
Chicago State scored two runs in the eighth on a single and a ground out to get the Cougars on the board.
It was another big day at the plate for Louisville as the Cards cruised to their 12th win of the year. Game two of the series is set for 12 PM Wednesday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
