On a short weekend road trip the Louisville field hockey team defeated Wake Forest 2-0 and Appalachian State 4-1.
Winston-Salem, N.C.- On Friday evening, the Cards traveled to conference rival Wake Forest. The No. 14 Demon Deacons have proven to be a tough team to beat on the road, but the Cards whipped up a pair of goals and the defense recorded another shutout. Lotta Kahlert scored at the 30 minute mark in the first half and Lizzie Gittens connected at the 62:42 mark. Ayeisha McFerran recorded a pair of saves.
Boone, N.C.- Sunday afternoon, U of L visited Appalachian State. Taylor Stone and Bethany Russ scored in the first half and Nicole Woods and Shannon Sloss added a goal apiece in the second half in a 4-1 rout of Mountaineers. McFerran recorded a couple more saves.
Louisville advances to 9-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Wake Forest is now 5-4 and 0-3 in the ACC. Appalachian State falls to 1-7.
U of L heads to No. 1 Syracuse on Friday, September 30, at 3:30 at 3:30 p.m. in an ACC showdown.
