acc title hopes end in shootout
Despite a tough defense, No. 6 Louisville was knocked out of the ACC Tournament by No. 16 Virginia, 4-3 in the shootout.
Both teams played incredibly tough defensively. Louisville GK Jake Gelnovatch lasted all 110 minutes, and the defense limited the Cavaliers to only one shot on goal, coming from Virginia's Nathaniel Croft. Overall, Virginia was limited to just six shots. It was Louisville's 10th shutout of 2017.
Louisville had a few more chances. The Cards had 13 shots, four on goal, two coming from Senior defenseman Tim Kubel.
The game went to shootout. Will Meyer came in at goalkeeper. Virginia made four of five attempts, missing their third shot. Louisville made three. Kubel, Adrien Cabon, and Mohamed Thiaw all connected. The two misses came from Tate Schmitt and Walker Andriot.
Louisville must wait until November 13th to find out their NCAA tournament seed in the field of 48. First-round matches are on campus sites. If Louisville is in the top-16, they will receive a first-round bye.
