Anthony DeSclafani was a lot better in his second rehab outing for Louisville. Unfortunately, the lineup went cold against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Bats lost to the Yankees affiliate, 3-1.

Louisville didn’t get a hit until the fourth inning.

In fact, it was a perfect game until the fourth. Rosell Herrera doubled with one out in that inning; and scored Louisville’s first run a few batters later. DJ Peterson was credited with the RBI single, after he hit a sharp liner to center.

Before the inning, Louisville was down by two. Both of Scranton’s runs were scored in the second inning, and scored via solo home runs. First, DH Mike Ford hit a home run to right. Then, two batters later, RF Billy McKinney slugged a ball 411 feet, clearing the benches in right-center field.

Aside from the two home runs, Louisville starter Anthony DeSclafani had a decent rehab start. He threw 96 pitches over 6.1 innings, and gave up just seven hits and one walk. He retired the last eight batters he faced. Disco also struck out two. He reduced his ERA from 10.80 to 6.35.

DeSclafani’s opponent, David Hale, wasn’t what most would consider a “lights-out” pitcher. He entered Louisville Slugger Field owning an 0-2 record with an ERA of 5.70.

He pitched 6.1 innings of two-hit baseball against Louisville. He allowed just the one run, by Herrera, and walked two batters. Hale struck out three Bats, and reduced his ERA to 4.80.

LJ Mazzilli added another run in the ninth inning, after Kevin Quackenbush allowed an RBI sac fly.

Louisville will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow. RHP Robert Stephenson (4-4, 3.59) toes the rubber against RHP Erik Swanson (NR, 4.22). The game will be at 7pm, and is a Thirsty Thursday at Louisville Slugger Field.
