Freshman led team in goals
Emina Ekic has been named ACC Co-Freshman of the Year for women's soccer. The Louisville native split the award with North Carolina's Alessia Russo. Ekic is the first Louisville player to received a major award in the ACC.
Ekic is the only player on Louisville's roster to earn an ACC award this season. She is also the only one to make an ACC team, All-ACC Second Team in this case.
She led the team with seven goals on the year. The freshman ranked in the top 10 in shots, goals, and points in the ACC. She also had two game-winners and recorded seven points against Kentucky with two goals and one assist.
Despite going out with an injury in the final regular season game Ekic is expected to be fully healthy in time for spring scrimmages.
