The Louisville field hockey team received a bid to the NCAA tournament. They are the 8-seed in an 18-team tournament. There will be play-in games for the teams that will face that 1- and 2-seeds.
The Cards are also #8 in the NFHCA Poll and will take on the #9 and 9-seed Delaware Blue Hens. Delaware is 19-2 and on a 15-game win streak.
Louisville and Delaware have faced each other three times with the Blue Hens holding a 2-1 lead. U of L won the last meeting 5-2 in 2009 in Durham, N.C. With this match-up being held at the same location things look promising for the Cards.
This is the Cards' third straight appearance. They fell in the first round the past two years and hope to change that this year.
The winner of this game will most likely face the 1-seed Duke. Six ACC teams made the tournament. Besides Louisville and Duke the others include Virginia, Boston College, North Carolina, and Syracuse.
Louisville and Delaware will face off Saturday in Durham, N.C,
