After winning their first two games of the season on the road, the Louisville field hockey team returned home to Trager stadium to face Brown and Richmond. Much to fans' expectations, they won. Roughly 20% of the way through their season the Cards have an unblemished record, sitting at 4-0.
On Saturday, Louisville defeated Brown 7-1. Senior Lizzie Gittens, who is actually a graduate student academically, scored a pair of goals and her teammate, junior Nicole Woods, finished with a school record three assists. Upperclassmen did most of the scoring for the Cards, who had their most goals of the season against Brown. The Cards out shot the Bears 22-4.
On Sunday, the Cards returned to action, this time against Richmond. The Spiders tied it at 1 apiece early on, but the Cards never looked back after that. Senior Lotta Kahlert and red-shirt junior Stephanie Byrne led Louisville in scoring with two goals each. U of L led in the shot count 17-6.
Up next for the Cards is a road trip to Michigan, where the will face Central Michigan and Michigan State.
