newest scandal too difficult to recover from
An anonymous source close to the University of Louisville confirmed that Louisville head men's basketball coach Rick Pitino, and athletic director Tom Jurich have been placed on administrative leave, effectively fired. Pitino was placed on unpaid leave while his employment would be reviewed at a later date. Jurich was placed on paid leave, awaiting his employment to be reviewed before the regularly scheduled meeting in mid-October.
The news comes after an FBI investigation revealed that the University was involved in a bribery and corruption sting involving the illegal recruitment of and All-American player. The player is thought to be Brian Bowen, the five-star recruit who's signing came as a surprise to many. An Adidas official has also been arrested in the sting.
The move was officially announced at a press conference at Louisville's Grawemeyer Hall at 1 pm.
It was also reported that Jurich was told to fire Pitino numerous times, but told the University that if Pitino goes, then so would he.
