Cards Can't Comeback From 11-0 Deficit

A five run first inning and four run third inning helped lift #10 Kentucky over #2 Louisville in a rematch from a couple weeks ago.  The Wildcats downed the Cardinals 11-7 in Lexington.

Kentucky scored all of their runs in the first four innings, leading 11-0, before U of L scored in the fifth and sixth innings.  A trio of errors in the field continued the momentum for the Cats.

Louisville managed seven hits on the day with two coming from Drew Ellis, who also had three RBI.  One of his hits was a three run home run in the sixth to spark a rally.  Colin Lyman scored twice.

Kentucky had five players with a multi-hit game with Tyler Marshall leading the way with three hits.  Marshall also had two RBI and scored once.  Connor Heady homered for the host.

Six pitchers saw the mound for the Cards, all of them seeing less than three innings.  The bullpen combined for 11 runs on 14 hits with only five strikeouts.

The loss is Louisville's second non-conference loss this season.  The first was to Cincinnati.  The Cards now sit at 31-5 and 15-3 in the ACC.  They host Duke this weekend.
