Siverson's Goal Lifts Cards Over Hokies
A Saturday afternoon trip to Blacksburg, Va., ended up being a showdown between two top ACC opponents. The Louisville lacrosse team defeated #12 Virginia Tech 13-12 in overtime.
On the first possession in overtime Meghan Siverson sprinted down the field to receive a pass from Ashley Lynch and fire the ball into the goal for the win. It completed a hat trick for the sophomore.
Besides Siverson, five other Cardinals scored during the match. Hannah Koloski led the team with four goals.
The game was back and forth with neither team having more than a two goal lead.
On the Hokies' side of things, two players scored four goals. VT's goalkeeper recorded 10 saves while U of L's Brittany Read recorded seven.
Louisville won 17 of the 27 draw controls of the game.
The Cards are in double-digit wins again and now sit at 10-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference. They return to the Louisville lacrosse stadium on Saturday as #2 North Carolina makes a visit for a noon start.
