In their 2017 season opener the Louisville lacrosse team defeated Vermont 19-8. Makayla Conti scored six goals to lead the way for the Cards, whose offense was rolling on all cylinders.
Along with Conti, Meghan Siverson scored five goals and senior Hannah Koloski pulled off a hat trick. Another senior, Heidi Smith, also pulled off a hat trick.
Louisville got off to a hot start, scoring twice within the first 2:23. The Catamounts did not touch the ball until they went on a 4-0 run after trailing by two early on.
Going into halftime with an 8-4 lead Coach Kellie Young made adjustments to shut down Vermont for the remainder of the game. Vermont pulled within 11-8 before the Cards went on an 8-0 run to end the game.
U of L travels to Marquette for a game on February 10 before returning home to host Robert Morris.
