The Louisville Bats returned to Slugger Field the winners of six straight. They defeated the Buffalo Bisons to make it seven. They won game one of the double-header, 3-0. Due to the double-header, the game lasted just seven innings.
Louisville’s three-run third inning and Robert Stephenson’s stellar outing were the difference in the game.
Josh VanMeter scored the first run of the third. He hit a blast to right off Marco Estrada; who was down on a rehab assignment. Then, Gabriel Guerrero blasted his ninth homer of 2018 to left; also scoring Mason Williams.
Estrada recorded one out in the fourth inning before having to exit the game. He gave up all three runs, which were earned, on three hits and two walks. He did strike out three. He left the game with an apparent finger injury.
Stephenson had one of his best outings. He went all seven innings, and surrendered only two hits and two walks. He struck out three.
The Bats move to 42-55. They hope to make the streak eight in a row against the Bisons in game two of the double-header. First pitch is 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
