The Louisville Bats lost their third game against the Pawtucket Red Sox, the top farm club of the Boston Red Sox, in a highly-offense-driven contest. Louisville lost 10-8.
Both teams’ starters did not make it five innings. Louisville’s starter, Eric Stout, threw 3.2 innings and surrendered five earned runs on six hits and five walks. Pawtucket’s starter, Erasmo Ramirez, threw 4.1 and gave up eight runs, four of which were earned.
Phillip Ervin plated Louisville’s first run in the first. He hit his eighth double to right. Then, Aristides Aquino tripled to left, plating Louisville’s second.
Pawtucket tied the game in the second. Juan Centeno sacrificed to center, and Josh Tobias singled to left.
Louisville regained the lead on a wild pitch in the top of the second. Christian Colon and Ervin extended the lead on two RBI singles.
The Red Sox hit back to back home runs in the top of the third to tie the game. Bryce Brentz hit a two-run shot, his tenth homer of the year, and Rusney Castillo hit a solo shot to right.
In the bottom of the fifth, Louisville scored another three runs. Rob Refsnyder bloop singled to right, plating Ervin. Then, Stuart Turner plated Aquino on a grounder to center. Alberti Chavez sacrificed to plate Refsnyder.
Pawtucket tied the game on a double and home run. Tzu-Wei Lin doubled for the sixth time, adding one run. Then, Brentz hit home run No. 11.
Castillo gave the Red Sox the lead in the eighth. He hit a bloop RBI single to center field off Robert Stephenson.
Tobias doubled to right, plating Sturgeon in the ninth.
Louisville moves to 26-40. RHP Lucas Sims (3-0, 4.56) takes on LHP Ryan Feierabend (3-1, 5.60). The game is at 7pm at Louisville Slugger Field.
