The 2019 Louisville Bats season has officially ended. For the final time this year, Brian O’Grady, Narciso Crook, Blake Trahan, Nick Longhi and Co. went into action against the Indianapolis Indians. They unfortunately were defeated by the Tribe 4-0; the same score Louisville lost in the final game last year, also against Indianapolis.
Eric Stout started the game for the Bats, and pitched 4.2 innings of good baseball. He allowed 6 hits, and surrendered one earned run, walked two, and struck out six. His ERA dropped from 6.63 to 6.27. He was relieved in the fifth by Jackson Stephens. Stout’s final record is 2-2.
Indianapolis scored first in the top of the fifth inning. Will Craig hit a ground-rule double to left-center field, his 23rd of 2019. Kevin Kramer scored on the play.
James Marvel pitched a great outing for Indianapolis. He went five innings, and gave up five hits and two walks, while recording five strikeouts. His ERA dropped from 2.91 to 2.67. Marvel’s record ends at an undefeated 7-0.
The Indians added two runs in the top of the seventh. Eric Wood hit his 11th double of 2019 against Justin Grimm to O’Grady. Kramer and Trayvon Robinson scored on the play.
Robinson tacked on a run in the top of the ninth. He hit a single to right-center field, plating Hayes. The hit was against Alex Powers. It was the only run Powers allowed, ending his ERA at 1.98.
Mitch Nay struck out for the final out of 2019. Brandon Waddell was the pitcher.
Louisville finishes at 59-81 overall, and 31-39 at Louisville Slugger Field. They are 9-14 against the Indians.
The Bats will face off against the Columbus Clippers on April 9th, 2020, Opening Day. Louisville will host the Clippers on April 11th, 2020, marking the first game next year at Louisville Slugger Field.
