June has been an abysmal month for the Louisville Bats. The oldest active professional team in Louisville entered the game with a 5-19 record in the sixth month of 2019.
Louisville left the game 5-20 in June. They were defeated 4-3.
Eric Stout started for Louisville, and had a rough game, despite lowering his ERA. He had a, 8.10 ERA, and lowered it to 7.48. Stout threw 5.0 innings, and surrendered three runs on home runs and two other hits. Stout struck out two.
Dustin Peterson homered for the ninth time in the top of the second inning. It was on a 2-1 count, and went 448 feet to left.
Then, in the fourth, Dawel Lugo hit home run No. 3 to right center.
In the fifth, Daz Cameron hit a monster shot to left. It was Cameron’s ninth home run.
Toledo started Beau Burrows, one of the Detroit Tigers’ top prospects. Burrows threw five innings in his second start back from an injury. He allowed three hits and one walk, while striking out two.
With Burrows gone, Louisville began a comeback in the sixth. Cassidy Brown hit his first home run in a Louisville uniform to center. Then, Triple-A All-Star Aristides Aquino hit his 17th home run, a bomb to right center, scoring himself and fellow all-star Josh VanMeter. All three were against reliever Zac Reininger.
In the top of the ninth, Daniel Pinero singled to right field, and gave Toledo the 4-3 lead.
Louisville moves to 28-51. They open a series with the Columbus Clippers. Keury Mella takes the ball in the first game.
