The Louisville Bats came into Sunday looking for their third consecutive win. However Toledo was just too good at the plate. Hitting two home runs, a total of 14 hits and starting pitcher Tyler Alexander was dominate on the mound. Only one earned run with three Strikeouts. Toledo was able to take the series finale 9-4.
Toledo took an early lead with a sac fly from Pete Kozma in the top of the second. In the bottom half of the inning the Bats would respond, Brian O’ Grady led off the inning with a double off the wall however was stranded on second base.
In the top of the fourth, Ronny Rodriguez hit a two run home run to left giving the Mud Hens a 3-0 lead. Louisville would respond in the bottom half of the inning, Brian O’ Grady hit a solo home run to right field making it 3-1 after four innings.
The Mud Hens would respond in the top of the fifth with a sac fly from Willie Castro making it 4-1, Jacob Robson would bring another run home with a RBI double making it 5-1, however Robson was thrown out trying to advance to third.
In the Top of the eighth Toledo added two more runs with a home run from Kozma making it 7-1. The Bats added two on a double from Christian Colon in the bottom of the 8th making it 7-3 Toledo.
Toledo added two runs in the top of the ninth making it 9-3. Louisville would score one run in the bottom of the ninth making it 9-4.
The Louisville Bats are back at home July 23rd against Gwinnett.
