Louisville was the #6 seed playing host to Virginia Tech the #11 seed in the first round of the ACC tournament. Virginia Tech came into the match up 8-5-2 (2-4-2) and Louisville was 8-6-2 (3-4-1). During the first half neither team could really get the advantage.
Louisville had 5 shots compared to Virginia Tech's 3 shots in the first half. Both teams did have several opportunities with some shots on goal however neither team could capitalize and get one in the net.
At the 43:17 mark in the first half Virginia Tech scored on a goal from Jon Ingason. At the 44:58 mark Virginia Tech would score again on a free kick from Daniel Pereira giving the Hokies a 2-0 lead.
The second half was similar to most of the first half, not much going on offensively for either team. Early in the second half Louisville a few opportunities however couldn't capitalize.
With the win, Virginia Tech advances in the ACC tournament and will play @ Wake Forrest the #3 seed on Sunday. With the loss, Louisville will await their postseason destination.
