Louisville softball is sending Paige Schindler and Jordyn Wolfe to the inaugural Florida Gulf Coast League this summer. In a time where seasons were cut short due to COVID-19, this will be an opportunity to allow many of the student-athletes to get extra playing time in 2020.
The Florida Gulf Coast League will see a 30-game season for baseball and 25-game season for softball. All games will be held in Sarasota, Fla., where many MLB teams go for spring training.
The season is set to begin June 18, with a three-day minicamp beforehand.
Both Schindler and Wolfe will play for the Manatee Squeeze.
Schindler is a rising senior at Louisville who saw time as a relief pitcher. She has also been a pinch runner in games, due to her speed. Schindler delivered the final strikeout in a bases loaded situation to help the Cards get an early season win.
Wolfe is a rising senior and was a starting outfielder for the Cards. Wolfe was third on the team with a .324 batting average. She played a big part in a 4-3 win against Illinois with a multi-hit performance.
All games will be aired through StreamLiveTampa. You can see the entire schedule here.
