First Road Test for Men’s Soccer
Just a few days after dominating higher-ranked Kentucky at Lynn Stadium, John Michael Hayden and Co. look to take their first road trip of 2019. The reigning ACC Champs will take on Florida Atlantic, USF, and Syracuse, before heading back home for an ACC tilt against Virginia Tech on September 20th.
Volleyball moves up in the world
Louisville Volleyball moved up in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. They debuted at No. 25 in the preseason poll, and improved to 24th after going 2-1 in the season thus far. Their sole loss was against Florida on August 30th, while beating Texas A&M and Dayton.
Melanie McHenry leads the team with 31 kills. Claire Chaussee is not far behind, with 30. McHenry also has 35 points.
Softball’s Fall Schedule
Louisville Softball will play four fall opponents, starting this weekend. The first games are this Saturday, against the same opponent as football (Did they ride the same bus from Richmond?).
After a 35-23 overall and 12-12 record in ACC play in 2019, the Cardinals look to have a great team again this spring. They return 13 players and 7 starters from last season, including Seniors Caitlin Ferguson and Celene Funke. Both had great seasons, including a massive tear by Funke, who hit .324 with a .903 OPS last season.
From 1927 to 2013, the Louisville Cardinals and Eastern Kentucky Colonels have played 26 times, with Louisville recording an 18-7-1 record. The last time they played was September 7th, 2013. The Cardinals demolished EKU 44-7. Teddy Bridgewater threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns.
The Cardinals will look to continue the domination against the leaders in the Ohio Valley Conference.
