Louisville volleyball (3-0) wasted no time in dismantling opponents en route to a Cardinal Classic Championship. The Cardinals swept Tennessee-Martin, Southern Illinois, and IUPUI all in about a 30-hour span.
Louisville defeated Tennessee-Martin 25-7, 25-17, and 25-12. They defeated Southern Illinois 25-10, 25-19, and 25-13. They defeated IUPUI 25-14, 25-12, 25-23.
In their first two matches, Louisville ht a few small bumps in the road in their second set. However, down the stretch they pulled. In their final match, the Cards trailed 18-11 in the third set before racing back to earn the sweep.
The Cards finished w=the weekend with 132 kills, opposed to opponents' 71. Louisville also finished with just 29 errors against opposing teams' 54 errors.
The three seniors on the team- Molly Sauer, Jasmine Bennett, and Wilma Rivera- earned All-Cardinal Classic Tournament Team honors.
Louisville hits the road for the next two weeks. Over Labor Day they will face ranked opponents Florida and USC in Gainesville while facing a tough Central Florida team in Orlando, just minutes down the road from Camping World Stadium where UofL football is set to face Alabama.
Their next home game will be against rival Kentucky on Friday, Sept. 14.
