The New York Liberty announced on Tuesday that Asia Durr would miss the 2021 WNBA Season after testing positive for COVID-19 a month ago. Durr was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft.
"As I continue to fight to fully recover, I had to make the difficult decision on a deadline to opt out as a medical High Risk player," Durr tweeted. "So much about this virus is unknown and my heart is heavy, even as I make the decision that I know is best for my long term wellness."
Durr averaged 9.7 points per game as a rookie but struggled with groin injury much of the season. She will be unable to join fellow Cardinal teammates and current rookies Jazmine Jones and Kylee Shook.
