For the second consecutive game, the Louisville Cardinals scored in triple-digits.
Asia Durr’s 25-point offensive attack led the Cardinals over UT Martin, 102-62. The Louisville guard finished with five boards and three assists.
As a team, the Cardinals shot 52.9 percent from the field, and 38.1 percent from beyond the arc. Louisville also connected on 22 of 28 free-throw shots. Defensively, the Cardinals limited the Skyhawks to just 32.4 percent, and 27.3 from three.
Louisville went on a pair of long runs in the first quarter. Sam Fuehring made a pair of free-throws, Durr sank a three, and Louisville would put together a 13-0 run that lasted about 90 seconds. Then, in the last minutes of the first, Arica Carter made a pair of free shots, and Louisville would complete a 9-0 run en route to a 31-14 first quarter lead.
The second-quarter run was even longer. Freshman Lindsey Duvall made a three at the 6:32-mark, and the Cardinals scored 18 unanswered points. Louisville finished the first half leading 58-23. The Cardinals allowed just nine points in the period.
And in the third, Louisville outscored UT Martin 21-16. Louisville’s lead was helped by an 8-0 run early in the period. UT Martin made a layup and free throw to end the quarter. The Cardinals still led 79-39.
UT Martin ended strong. The Skyhawks scored 23, which tied Louisville’s 4th-quarter. The longest unanswered-scoring streak was five points, which Louisville and UT Martin both had.
The Cardinals move to 9-0. They will face off against arch-rival Kentucky on Sunday, December 2nd, at 2pm. The game will be at the KFC Yum! Center. It is also the penultimate game of the homestand.
