Mangok Mathiang goes out with a Bang!
Mangok Mathiang had a career-high 18 points to help lead the # 8 Louisville men's basketball team to a victory over #19 Notre Dame on senior day at the KFC Yum! Center. Mathiang celebrated the day with us co-seniors: David Levitch and Tony Hicks.
Along with his 18 points Mathiang pulled in 11 rebounds to complete the double-double. Donovan Mitchell scored 20 and Quentin Snider posted 17 to compliment the senior leader. Snider hit four 3-pointers in the second half to spark a run.
Deng Adel nailed a clutch 3-pointer to extend the Cards' lead to five with 22 seconds remaining in the game.
The main difference in the game was U of L's ability to out-rebound Notre Dame 44-27. Many of those being offensive rebounds allowed the Cards to have second chance points, which they had 14 on the day.
The win improves the Cards to 27-7 on the year and 12-6 in the ACC. They are in shape to earn a 3 or 4-seed in the ACC tournament.
