Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Louisville men’s soccer team kicks off its season against Butler University at Lynn Stadium. The Cards, coming off a disappointing 2015 campaign, look to reinvigorate their status in championship contention. Ranked 24th in the first RPI poll, the Cards look to improve that tonight with a strong outing against a Butler team that is no slouch itself, as they are ranked 43rd.
With several new faces likely to play for the Cards tonight including probable starting keeper Stefan Cleveland as well as some familiar faces returning including Jerry Ramirez, who missed last season due to injury, this team looks to not only start the season strong, but create some cohesion going into ACC play. The ACC is a notoriously tough schedule for men’s soccer programs, but Louisville looks to play the role of the feared team this season, and tonight should begin that journey.
