Louisville and North Carolina have established a small rivalry in volleyball in the last couple years. Each team claimed a victory at home 3-2 last season. This year's lone match-up was hosted by the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. In rivalry fashion, the two teams played a five=set thriller. Louisville came out victorious 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-27, 15-13).
Melanie McHenry and Jasmine Bennett led the charge with 19 kills and 18 kills, respectively. Wilma Rivera added 45 assists to the match. Defensively, Emily Scott recorded eight blocks, Megan Sloan added seven, and Bennett contributed five.
With victories over North Carolina and NC State, Louisville starts the conference season 2-0 and improves their overall record to 9-4. The Cards remain on the road next weekend when they visit Georgia Tech and Clemson.
