5-2 at Home

U of L's women's soccer team wrapped up their seven game home stand this weekend with a pair of overtime games. They fell 1-0 in overtime to Ball State before defeating Belmont 2-1 in overtime.

The Cards' stingy defense doesn't allow too many goals, but the Cardinals of Ball State snuck one by senior goalkeeper Taylor Bucklin to claim the win at Lynn. Louisville had ample chances to score, especially in the first half. Kaela Dickermann, Brooklynn Rivers, and Jill Vetere all had good looks and shots on goal, but failed to convert.

On a cool Sunday afternoon fans packed Lynn Stadium one more time before the Cards hit the road. Belmont scored midway through the first half off of a deflection. Louisville had an opportunity to score a few minutes later on a penalty kick after a hand ball, but was stopped by the Bruins' goalkeeper.

In the second half, Rivers found herself with a chance at a penalty kick and made the most of it. She kicked it to the left-most part of the goal. Belmont's goalkeeper got a hand on the ball, but wasn't enough to stop it. Late into overtime Rivers found herself on a breakaway and scored her second goal of the match, and fourth of the season, to claim the win.

U of L finishes their early home schedule 5-2 and head to Pittsburgh on Saturday, September 17, to begin ACC play.
