Softball finishes ucf invitational 4-1

Louisville softball started their season in Orlando at the UCF Invitational. The Cardinals came out of the tournament 4-1. Their five opponents were Butler, Central Florida, North Florida, North Carolina, and Illinois.

Game Three: Louisville 5, North Florida 4
Danielle Watson claimed the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. She pitched the final five innings after replacing Kyra Snyder, who got the start.
Nicole Pufahl went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI's. She also recorded her first home run of the season. Alison Sydlowski and Madison Cousineau each had two hits.
Louisville had to use a two run rally in the top of the seventh to come from behind to take the lead. The defense held the Ospreys scoreless to secure the win.
Game Four: North Carolina 2, Louisville 0
The Cards were held scoreless in their first loss of the season. Megan Hensley got the start and credit for the loss. Watson came in the game for the final two innings to close it out.
Szydlowski and Caitlin Ferguson had two hits apiece with Ferguson recording a double. The Louisville offense only had three strikeouts on the day, but had trouble with ground outs and fly outs.
Game Five: Louisville 9, Illinois 7
In the biggest offensive battle of the season Louisville came through in the seventh with a pair of runs for the win. After leading 7-2 over the Illini the score became tied in the sixth inning.
Kyra Snyder went 4-5 with three RBI's to lead the way. Hensely went 3-for-4 with one RBI, Pufahl went 2-for-3 with two RBI's, and Blaire Bass went 2-for-5 with one RBI to help with the scoring. Each run was scored by a different player for the Cards.
Watson started on the mound and got the win to go 3-0 on the season. Hensley came in for the final four innings with a couple clutch strikeouts to close out the game.
Louisville starts the season 4-1. They go to Raleigh to play in the ACC/Big Ten challenge next weekend.
