Softball Sweeps Boston College
on Senior Weekend

Louisville softball capped off its senior weekend with a sweep against Boston College. The wins solidify a spot in the ACC Tournament, which takes ten teams from the conference.
Game One: Louisville 4, Boston College 2 Megan Hensley homered twice and recorded all four rbis to power the offense to a win. Caitlin Ferguson and Sidney Melton both scored during the three-run fifth inning that gave the Cards the lead for good. Hensley pitched for all but two outs during the game, striking out five while allowing three hits. Danielle Watson faced five batters in the fifth, but was replaced by Hensley after walking a batter and hitting another. Game Two: Louisville 3, Boston College 2 UofL used eight hits and three errors by the Eagles' defense to pull through in a tight game. Maddy Newman went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored once and Hensley had two rbis. Offensively, Louisville struck out twice. Hensley pitched five innings, surrendering seven hits and striking out one. Kyra Snyder closed out the final two innings without giving up a run to record the save. Game Three: Louisville8, Boston College 0 (5 innings) Louisville tallied 11 hits and took advantage of four walks to run-rule Boston College. Melton, Hensley, Celene Funke, and Alison Szydlowski each had two hits. Melton had three rbis including a walkoff walk and Hensley added two rbis. Seven different players crossed the plate. Hensley pitched a full game that featured just four hits for the Eagles. She improved her record to 15-7 following the conclusion of the weekend. Louisville improves to 31-17 and 10-10. The Cards have had a 30-win season for fifteen straight seasons. With their 10-10 record Louisville is eighth in the ACC and cannot drop below ninth. Notes Seven players have a batting average above .300 (50 at bats minimum). Hensley is the first player to record 50 hits this season with Funke and Melton both close behind her with 48 each. Louisville recognized five seniors for Senior Day on Saturday- Nicole Pufahl, Alison Szydlowski, Ashley Nikoloa, Jenna Jordan, and Jamie Soles. The Cards host Marshall on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., before hitting the road to Pittsburgh over the weekend to conclude the regular season.
