After losing three straight games the Louisville softball team managed to get three wins on the road in a sweep at Virginia Tech.
Game One: Louisville 13, Virginia Tech 6 Jenna Jordan went 4-for-4 in the first game of the double header. Nicole Pufahl and Megan Hensley had three hits each. The trio accounted for five RBI in that game. Maryssa Becker got the start on the mound, but was pulled in the second inning. Hensley pitched the remainder of the game and got the win. U of L used a six run fourth inning to take the lead and never lose it.
Game Two: Louisville 6, Virginia TEch 0 Becker pitched the entire game for her 18th win of the season. She allowed six hits and struck out four in the shutout. Jordan McNary and Jamies Soles added two hits each. Pufahl hit her team-best seventh home run on the season. It was the first game since before their previous losing streak that the Cards did not commit an error.
Game Three: Louisville 10, Virginia Tech 8 U of L used a seven run first inning where the team batted through the entire lineup plus two more batters. A plethora of Cardinals had multi-hit games on the day. Eight different Cardinals recorded a hit. Hensley, Soles, and Caitlin Ferguson hit doubles. Becker got the start and win while Hensley came in for the final two innings for a save.
Louisville improves their record to 25-13 and 9-4 in the ACC, currently third place. They return to Ulmer for a five game home stand.
