The weather outside may be in the teens, but inside the Ralph Wright Natatorium the temperature is just right. With a pool temperature of mid-60s and humidity levels to make you sweat it wasn't hard to see why a small crowd gathered to watch the Louisville Cardinals and Missouri Tigers compete in a highly ranked swimming and diving meet.
On the men's side of things the #8 Cardinals upset the #6 Tigers 224-147. Grigory Tarasevich and Trevor Carroll pulled off hat tricks, both winning an individual race and two relays. Carlos Claverie had an individual win of his own as well as being part of one of the first place relay races. Marcelo Acosta dominated his race, winning by 13 seconds.
For the women, #11 Louisville took down #12 Missouri 249-123. A plethora of Cards had big performances. Mallory Comerford earned four wins, two individual and two relay races. Andrea Cottrell was close behind with three wins, a pair of individual races and a medley relay. Abigail Houck pulled off a first place finish and placed in other races. Casey Franz also made it to the podium a couple of times.
U of L hits the road for a meet at Kentucky on Saturday, January 21, and a meet at Indiana on Friday, January 27, before returning home to host the Louisville Invitational in mid-February.
