After trailing early in the game the Louisville baseball team scored 12 unanswered runs to defeat Fort Wayne 12-2. Devin Mann hit a home run and Devin Hairston had a career-high five RBI.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Mann took the first pitch of the inning and sent it over the left center field wall to get the Cards on the board. The offense would follow with four more runs that inning. They never looked back after that.
Hairston is now up to 15 RBI on the season after today. He was a home run shy of hitting the cycle against the Mastadons.
Not everything went smooth on the day for the #4 Cardinals. Bryan Hoeing got the start for the midweek match-up, but was pulled in the fourth inning after allowing the first two batters of the inning to reach on base safely. Both runs by Fort Wayne were scored with Hoeing on the mound. Hoeing has struggled this season against lesser opponents and his future as a starter this season doesn't look bright.
Louisville improves to 12-0 on the season and open ACC play when Pittsburgh visits Jim Patterson Stadium this weekend.
Note: Due to possible inclement weather this weekend the Louisville series against Pittsburgh may be adjusted.
