Louisville's five seniors took the pitch one final time at Lynn Stadium. #9 Virginia was in the house and came away with a 2-1 victory.
The Cavaliers put a goal on the board first when Alexis Shaffer took a penalty kick to the back of the net. A hand ball at the 32 minute mark was called on the Cards, setting up Shaffer's one-on-one against Taylor Bucklin.
Virginia extended their lead at the 53 minute mark Veronica Latsko received a pass from across the box and drove it into the goal.
The Cards responded when Alison Price received a pass from Kaela Dickerman. Price's header hit the crossbar before crossing the goal line and being called a goal by the linesman.
However, despite their six shots- five on goal- the Cards managed only one goal in the loss. Senior goalkeeper Taylor Bucklin did record two saves in her final outing for Louisville.
The loss destroyed any chance of post-season play for U of L and they finish the season 7-7-4 and 2-5-3 in conference play.
