Sir Keir Starmer will reshuffle the Labour shadow cabinet

Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, is expected to reshuffle his shadow ministry on Monday.

It just so happens that the long-awaited leadership change at Labour will take place at the same time that MPs will be returning from their summer break.

There have been a lot of questions about Angela Rayner's potential role in Sir Keir's leadership team as the deputy leader. The restructure will take place on the same day as Sue Gray begins her new position as chief of staff to Sir Keir.

The former government employee rose to fame as a result of her research into the Partygate scandal.

Sir Keir is not anticipated to switch his most senior colleagues, including shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves, shadow health secretary Wes Streeting, and shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper.

Angela Rayner was given the post of deputy leader as a result of a vote that was held internally within the party. This indicates that she will continue to hold that position regardless of the outcome.

In addition to this, she is responsible for monitoring the Cabinet Office brief, which focuses on the effective administration of government procedures.

Ms. Rayner's counterpart in the administration is Oliver Dowden, who is also in charge of the Cabinet Office. Mr. Dowden is now serving as the vice prime minister.

In recent years, she has focused a significant amount of energy on examining ethical issues in politics. These issues range from so-called "sleaze" to the accusation that her opponents are "wasting taxpayers' money."

Some Labour sources anticipate that she may instead be given responsibility for a specific domestic policy area. Among the candidates mentioned for a potential promotion is the chairman of the business committee of the parliament, Darren Jones.

His forensic interrogation of companies such as Thames Water, Royal Mail, and P&O at various committee hearings frequently generated favorable press coverage.

It is unclear which policy area he could assume if he were promoted. If Jim McMahon is demoted, he may be assigned to monitor the environment.

Labour has yet to designate a shadow for the newly appointed science, innovation, and technology secretary.

Mr. Jones has been outspoken about his belief, for instance, that Artificial Intelligence and technology can be a "force for good" if implemented properly and should be central to Labour's plans for enhancing education or the NHS.

Lucy Powell presently handles the digital, culture, and media brief for Labour, so she could be a candidate should this position become vacant. Last Thursday, Rishi Sunak also made a few adjustments to his best team.

Former defense secretary Ben Wallace was replaced by Grant Shapps, and his close ally Claire Coutinho was promoted to energy and net zero secretary. It is anticipated that the prime minister will conduct a comprehensive government reshuffle in the future months.

Both parties are holding their annual party conferences in October, and their respective leaders are expecting to assemble their top teams in preparation for the next general election, which is anticipated to occur at some point in 2019.
