Recall campaigns at ROSSMANN: These products are affected
The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety and the pharmacy chain ROSSMANN provide information on three product recalls that could pose a health risk to consumers.
On the one hand, there are two types of chips in which contamination by so-called tropane alkaloids has been observed. On the other hand, several allergens contained in a smoothie drink are not declared. Consumption may cause discomfort in allergy sufferers.
ROSSMANN recalls tortilla chips
As the pharmacy chain ROSSMANN informed in a press release, the company is launching two recall campaigns for the products "enerBiO Tortilla Chips Paprika" (EAN 4305615678559) and "enerBiO Tortilla Chips Sea Salt" (EAN 4305615678641). All expiry dates of both types of crisps are affected by the recall. These two varieties of the "enerBio Tortilla Chips" brand are being recalled regardless of the expiry date. Why are chips being recalled?
Reason for the recall: So-called tropane alkaloids have been detected in crisps. These are substances that have entered the crop via certain weeds such as datura and deadly nightshade.
Even small amounts of tropane alkaloids can cause temporary symptoms such as drowsiness, headaches, and nausea in humans. We therefore advise against consuming the chips affected by the recall.
ROSSMANN recalls Smoothie
In addition, ROSSMANN is recalling the drink "enerBiO Haferfreude Smoothie" (EAN 4305615831367). All product expiration dates are also affected by the recall. This smoothie is being recalled regardless of its expiration date. (Picture: Dirk Rossmann GmbH, Isernhägener Str. 16, 30938 Burgwedel)
Why is the smoothie being recalled?
Reason for recall: The smoothie contains traces of peanuts, other tree nuts and sesame. However, these allergens are not mentioned.
Consumption may cause allergic reactions in allergic consumers, which may manifest as respiratory and circulatory problems and/or irritation of the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
For people who are not allergic to peanuts, tree nuts or sesame, however, consumption does not pose a health risk, ROSSMANN said in a statement on the recall.
Customers who have already purchased the above products can return them at any ROSSMANN point of sale. The purchase price will be refunded there. ROSSMANN customer service will answer all your questions on 0800 76 77 62 66 (reachable Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.). (vb)
